Terms of use

Last updated: 21 October 2026

1. Who we are

StuffWatch (stuffwatch.app) is run by Tim Sutton, self-employed, Ebikon (LU), Switzerland ("we", "us"). Contact: tim@stuffwatch.app.

These terms apply when you use StuffWatch (which needs a free account, just your email) and when you buy StuffWatch Pro. By using StuffWatch you agree to them. How we handle your data is explained in our privacy notice.

2. What StuffWatch does

StuffWatch is a web app that helps you keep track of what you own. You can log things, contracts and food by photo or by typing them in, and we remind you about warranties, return windows, contract cancel-by dates, maintenance and best-before dates, and check your things against official product recalls.

3. Plans

Prices include VAT where it applies. The price you pay is the one shown at checkout.

4. Paying and renewal

Payments are handled by Stripe. You pay through Stripe's checkout page; we never see your card details. Pro is a subscription: it renews automatically at the end of each month or year and is charged to the same payment method, until you cancel. If a payment fails, Stripe will try again for a short time; if it still fails, your account goes back to Free.

5. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from your account in the app ("My plan", then "Manage or cancel your subscription"). Cancelling stops the next renewal. Pro stays active until the end of the period you've already paid for, and then your account goes back to Free. Apart from your right of withdrawal (section 7) or where the law requires it, we don't refund part-used periods.

When your account goes back to Free, nothing you've saved is deleted. If you're over the Free limits, you can still see, edit and delete everything, but you can't add more of that kind until you're under the limit again.

6. Early-adopter prices and price changes

If you buy Pro at an early-adopter price, you keep that price for as long as your subscription keeps running. If you cancel and later subscribe again, the price at that time applies.

We may change prices for new members. If we ever need to change the price of an existing subscription, we'll tell you by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect, and you can cancel before it does.

7. Your 14-day right of withdrawal (EU, EEA and UK consumers)

If you're a consumer living in the EU, the EEA or the UK, you can withdraw from your Pro purchase within 14 days of buying it, without giving a reason, and get a full refund.

Pro starts straight away when you pay. At checkout you ask us to start the service immediately and acknowledge this. If you then withdraw within the 14 days, we refund what you paid minus an amount in proportion to the time you used Pro before you told us. For example, if you withdraw 5 days into a 30-day month, you get back about 25/30 of the monthly price.

To withdraw, send us a clear statement, for example by email to tim@stuffwatch.app from the address you signed in with. You can use the model form below, but you don't have to. It's enough to send it before the 14 days are up. We'll refund you within 14 days of receiving it, to the payment method you used, at no cost to you.

We're happy to offer the same 14 days to customers in Switzerland and elsewhere.

Model withdrawal form
(Fill in and send this only if you want to withdraw from the contract.)

To: Tim Sutton, StuffWatch, Ebikon (LU), Switzerland, tim@stuffwatch.app
I hereby withdraw from my contract for the following service: StuffWatch Pro (monthly / yearly)
Ordered on: ____________
Name: ____________
Email address used for StuffWatch: ____________
Date: ____________

8. Using StuffWatch fairly

Please use StuffWatch for keeping track of your own things and contracts (or your household's). Don't:

If someone seriously or repeatedly breaks these rules, we may suspend or close their account. If you had paid for Pro, we'll refund the unused part, unless the law says otherwise.

9. Your content

What you save in StuffWatch stays yours. You give us only the permission we need to store and process it to run the service for you, as described in the privacy notice. You can delete your items at any time, and ask us to delete your whole account.

10. Reminders and recall information

StuffWatch is a helpful reminder, not a guarantee. Warranty and return periods, contract dates and best-before dates are worked out from what you or our photo reading enter, and the AI can get things wrong. Recall information comes from official sources and is matched automatically, so a match can be missed or wrong. Emails can be delayed or end up in spam.

So please check the details you save, and for anything important, check with the shop, the provider, the manufacturer or the official recall notice. The information is provided as it is. We aren't responsible for a deadline you miss, or a recall you don't hear about, because of a reminder that was wrong, late or didn't arrive. Always follow the food label and your own judgement about whether food is safe to eat.

11. Availability and changes

We work to keep StuffWatch running, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. We may improve or change features. If we ever stop offering Pro, we'll tell you in good time and refund any unused part of a prepaid period.

12. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits or lost data, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for StuffWatch in the 12 months before the claim. This doesn't limit liability for intent or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or any other liability that can't be limited by law.

13. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we'll update this page and the date at the top. For important changes that affect a running subscription, we'll tell you by email beforehand, and you can cancel before they apply.

14. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by Swiss law. If you're a consumer living outside Switzerland, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country you live in, and you can bring a claim there. Otherwise the courts at our place of business in Switzerland have jurisdiction. If something goes wrong, please contact us first; we'd much rather sort it out with you directly.
